NETWORK SPECIFICATIONS :

Cabling :

The cabling used at Dewsoft Centers is usually UTP (Unshielded twisted pair)
CAT 5 and it is advised that a proper structured cabling company be commissioned to do the cabling for the Center. RJ 45 connectors are used with the cables. You would also require the following tools:

• Cable testers
• Crimping tools

Network Hardware :

Usually Dewsoft Centers having 3 labs of 20 computers each would require 4 hubs/switches, 24 port each. These can be of any recognized brand, preferably:

• Allied Telesyn
• 3 COM
• US Robotics
• CISCO

You would require 10 base-100 Network Interface cards for all nodes.

Network Servers :

You require at least one main server with top-of-the-line configuration.

Each lab is equipped with a lab server catering to that particular lab only. Mostly labs are not connected directly to each other on the network (separate domains). All computers log on to the main server.

Network Software :

Mostly the operating system used is Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 - Advanced Server. In addition we require anti-virus scan engines and other network monitoring tools.

ROLE AND FUNCTIONS OF DEWSOFT

Dewsoft provides the needed know-how and support to the new Business Partners, from establishing the Center to the start of its operation, and beyond. It infact provides the Business Partner necessary information and support right from the approval of the location and layout to the actual commissioning of the Center operations.

The assistance from Dewsoft includes help in hiring of personnel like; Center Manager, Center Academics Head, Marketing Head, Career Counselors, faculty etc., support in purchasing curriculum books and supplies for the students, initial training of Center personnel and whatever help is required from time to time for the startup.

This support does not end here. Once the Center becomes operational, a series of support services come into play. Continuous assistance and training is provided to the Centers in marketing, counseling, curriculum up-gradation, faculty training etc. Weekly/Monthly Marketing and Academics Reports to the Dewsoft from the Centers keep the standards at the Centers high. This also enables them to identify the areas where improvement may be required.
